Getting to Know the 2007 Hybrid Car Line Up

More and more car manufacturers are developing “greener” versions of their well-known brands. The infusion of Hybrid technology has made a big splash in the motoring world and its popularity as well as the growing concern for the environment has added to the demand for this type of vehicles, urging more vehicle manufacturers to add more of their vehicles in the hybrid bandwagon to capture more potential consumers in the market.

One of the newest in the batch 2007 hybrid car lineup is the 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid, the third in Toyota’s Hybrid vehicles. The Camry hybrid boasts of a performance of a topnotch six-cylinder engine with the fuel economy of a four-cylinder engine. Although it is not as fuel efficient as the first Toyota hybrid, the Prius, the Camry hybrid is a whole lot better than the regular Camry.

Never to be left behind, giant Japanese car manufacture Honda, has also the Hybrid Accord and the Hybrid Civic. These two sedans offer what Hybrids are known for, less emission and less fuel consumption.

The 2007 Honda Accord Hybrid alone combines luxury and fuel efficiency that is truly environment friendly. Even with a V6 engine that generates 253 horsepower, you can be sure that you will get more miles to the gallon. It is a nice change knowing that you get the luxury and power that you want and still get the fuel economy that we all deserve.

Then there is the 2007 Civic Hybrid which continuously provides the true essence of hybrid technology. Its ingenious engineering has rightly earned it its Advanced Technology Partial Zero-Emission Vehicle (AT-PZEV) rating. What this means is that you don’t only get from point A to point B in less gas usage, but also save the environment by not adding to the air pollutants already swarming over it.

Joining the Hybrid car race in 2007 is General Motors second Hybrid vehicle, the 2007 Aura Hybrid sedan. This will be competing with other high-end hybrid cars such as the Toyota Camry Hybrid and the Honda Accord Hybrid. Sporting a V6 engine as well, the Aura Green Line is dedicated to providing utmost engine power with minimal gas consumption. Its engineers claim that it will be able to generate 20 percent savings in fuel economy over its conventional model.

Nissan has also announced that a 2007 Altima Hybrid will be offered and has offered test drives and a glimpse of its development vehicle. In a deal inked with Toyota, Nissan will be dedicating five years into the project with the Hybrid Technology developed by Toyota.

Rumored to be unveiling its first hybrid model, Volkswagen is said to be preparing a full-hybrid car for 2007 but it hasn’t disclosed yet which car model they will be infusing the technology. Latest rumors said that it would be on the Jetta for the upscale engine level or in the Passat for the four-cylinder class.

With more and more vehicle manufacturers realizing the potential of Hybrid vehicles, it wont be long before every car produced will be infused with the Hybrid technology. And as oil prices continue to soar and concerns for the environment are ever growing, we can all be sure that these vehicles will be welcomed with open arms.

How the Battery System Works

Hybrid cars are one of the latest innovations in the auto industry today. It made it possible for people to save a lot of money from the rising cost of fuel and also made it possible for everyone using a hybrid car to help in conserving the cleanliness of the environment. With a hybrid car, you will save a lot of money from the constantly rising gasoline prices and at the same time, help in lessening the pollution level.

Hybrid cars today are getting more and more popular. In fact, more and more people are now considering to get rid of their gas-guzzling conventional car and purchase a hybrid car which they can benefit more from. However, not all people can really see the benefits of hybrid cars. Some people think that hybrid cars tend to be more expensive than conventional cars. But what they don’t see is the long term benefits that a hybrid car can offer.

If you compare hybrid cars to conventional cars, you will see that once you compute the total amount of gasoline you have to use during the car’s lifetime, you will save more on the hybrid car even if it is more expensive in the retail price department.

As you can clearly see, hybrid cars is much more fuel efficient than conventional cars. You may now ask how it works and how hybrid cars are able to achieve fuel efficiency than conventional cars.

First of all, hybrid cars are what you can describe as a cross between a conventional gasoline-powered car and an electric-powered car. It uses both energy sources to run the car and has two engines. One is the gasoline engine and the other is the electricity engine. Hybrid cars operate on fuel when it is running and it runs on electricity when it is idle.

For example, imagine starting up your car in your garage and you forgot something inside your home. Because the car is running idle it will automatically switch off the gasoline engine and activate the electric engine to run your car. After 30 minutes of looking, you finally found that important thing you forgot. During those 30 minutes, you will save gasoline because your car is running on electricity. It will switch back to the gasoline engine once you stepped on the accelerator pedal.

There are two main kinds of hybrid cars existing today. One is the parallel hybrid car and the other is the series hybrid car. In parallel hybrid cars, both the electric motor and batteries, and the gasoline engine are connected to the transmission. This means that both motors will be able to run the car independently and can provide propulsion power.

In the series hybrid car, the gasoline is not connected to the transmission. It is only connected to the generator to charge the battery or to power the electric motor to provide propulsion.

The batteries in hybrid cars are the energy storage device for the electric motors. In hybrid cars, the electric motor is able to draw power from the batteries as well as put energy into them. This means that when the electric motor is running, it can continually recharge the batteries inside the hybrid car.

Today, a hybrid car’s batteries are able to recover power when the brakes are applied. It can also recharge energy generated by the motor.

With all of these benefits, hybrid cars are the cars of the future. It can efficiently save fuel, it can run quietly, it has low toxic fume emissions, and it can also save you a lot of money from huge tax breaks for hybrid car buyers.

The Dangers of Amateur Drift Racing

Have you seen Formula D Racing, otherwise known as Formula Drifting, on television before? If you are lucky, there is even a chance that you have seen a live event. If this is the case, you may be more interested in Formula D Racing. In fact, in addition to becoming a fan of the sport, there is also a chance that you would like to participate in it. If this is the case, there are a number of important things that you must keep in mind.

Although Formula D Racing using judges to score a driver, it is still often considered a form of racing. This is because, in addition to the drifting techniques used, speed is also taken into consideration; thus, racing becomes involved. If you are interested in participating in Formula D Racing, there is a good chance that you will start out on your own or at an amateur level. When participating on your own, it is important to remember one thing. Street racing, in many areas of the United States, is considered illegal. In the event that you try your hand at drifting, on a public street, you may be subject to arrest or numerous fines. To prevent that from happening, you will want to find a safe place to practice.

When it comes to finding a place to practice or participate in Formula Drifting, you may have a difficult time. Unless you are considered a professional driver, you may find it difficult, or even impossible, to gain access to a track. Although there are some local tracks that allow drifting, not all tracks do. In fact, even the tracks that do allow this type of competition are fairly hard to find. As previously mentioned, instead of racing on the street, you will want to find a safe place to race. Depending on where you live and the size of your property, you may be able to create own your own drifting track or surface.

Whether you make the decision to find a local track, that will allow you to participate in a form of Formula D Racing, or you choose to race on your own property, you need to be careful. Formula Drifting is a popular, but dangerous sport. This sport is even dangerous for professionals, and they know what they are doing. Essentially, this means that if you are considered an amateur drifter, you are at an increased risk for injury. That is why it is best that you practice safely and learn as much about the sport as you can.

Perhaps, the best way to learn about drifting is to first familiarize yourself with the cars that can be used. Not all cars are safe for drifting. Using the wrong car is the quickest way to crash or suffer an injury. Once you have acquired a car, that is safe to use for drifting, you will want to familiarize yourself with that car. You may want to drive it a lot before you automatically start drifting. This should help to ensure that you know how the car likes to handle; thus making your drifting experience safer.

As previously mentioned, you may also want to take the time to famialrize yourself with the sport. You should be able to do this a number of different ways. One of those ways is by using the internet to your advantage. Online, you should be able to find a decent amount of information on Formula D Racing, including how to get started in it. By familiarizing yourself with popular drifting techniques, as well as watching demonstrations of those techniques, you may learn how to make the most out of your drifting experience. Similar information should also be able to be found in books or in videos, such as instructional videos.

Although it may be best to leave the sport to professionals, you may not want to. By keeping the above mentioned information in mind, you should be able to enjoy this popular, but potentially dangerous sport.

Auto Navigation Systems are Great Tools for Geocaching

Geocaching is an excellent way to maximize your use of a handheld auto navigation system. There are so many wonderful activities and events you can use your system for and geocaching is a way of combining many activities into one use or event. In addition to being a great way to get out and see the world this is a great way to work physical fitness into your fun regimen. The reason is that there is generally some degree of work involved in finding your hidden treasures.

So what exactly is geocaching? Glad you asked. This is a sport really, kind of like a fox hunt without the dogs and foxes. Seriously, it is a merry chase in search of a small token or treasure. The idea is that you take something, leave something, and make a note about it in the log. You use your GPS or handheld auto navigation system in order to find the treasure you are seeking. You find the caches and stashes by getting the coordinates from the Internet. This is a very popular pastime and you will find all kinds of spectacular prizes and goodies in the cache stash as well as phenomenal flops when it comes to prizes as well. All bets are off really, some stashers leave great goodies and others leave pranks or silly items. It is completely up to you which treasures you will leave behind (do keep in mind that this is often a family activity and keep your tokens family friendly as people of all ages enjoy the sport).

There are no hard and fast rules when it comes to geocaching and new games are created all the time to keep the fun alive and the sport much more interesting. Check the Internet for caches hidden in your area, you might be amazed at the vast number of treasures and treasure hunters that live near by. I always have a tendency to think of geocaching as my own form of treasure hunting. Not all caches are created equal but the thrill of the hunt is really what it’s all about. There have been some incredibly zany and humorous caches in addition to the wonderful stashes of actual cash. Enter into this with the idea of having a lot of fun and you might be surprised at all the wonderful gifts and goodies you find. Be sure however to always leave something behind if you take an item.

Don’t be deceived by the fact that you are using GPS or other auto navigation systems in order to find the stash, you may find yourself getting quite the orienteering workout. Not only will you need to climb, hike, or bike on occasion you may need specialized equipment such as scuba equipment or rock climbing equipment in order to reach some caches. You may even begin your own cache by finding a creative location in which to stash your trinkets and treasures and loading the coordinates to your local geocaching website. If you keep an eye on your stash you may find all manner of interesting goodies and ideas coming through.

Even if you haven’t really considered how exciting it would be to go on a real treasure hunt since you were a child, isn’t it about time you did? Geocaching is the modern day treasure hunt with a twist-rather than “X” marking the spot, you will find your way with beeps and blips.

How to Watch a Formula D Racing Event

Formula D Racing; if you are a race fan, there is a good chance that you have heard of it before. Although Formula D is considered to be racing, there is a lot more than racing that is involved. In fact, drifting is important; thus, the alternative name for Formula D Racing. That alternative name is known as Formula Drifting. If you are a fan of drifting or if you would like to learn more about the sport, there is a good chance that you would be interested in watching an event. If this is the case, you have a number of different options.

Perhaps, the best way to watch a Formula D Racing event is live, in person. Each year, the Formula D Racing series travels to a number of different tracks. In 2006, these events took place in Long Beach, Atlanta, Chicago, Sonoma, Seattle, Wall, and Irwindale. As Formula Drifting continues to increase in popularity, there is a good chance that additional locations will be added on to the series. However, until that time, you may have to have access to one of the previously mentioned cities to watch a live Formula D Racing event. In the event that you are able to attend a Formula D event, you are advised to. With most tickets being only around twenty dollars, you will find that it is an affordable and exciting way to spend your day.

As nice as it would be to watch a live Formula D Racing event, you may not have the ability to do so. As previously mentioned, these races only take place in a few different areas. Unfortunately, only a select number of states, such as Georgia, California, Washington, Illinois, and New Jersey currently host Formula D events. Essentially, this means that unless you live in these states, there is a good chance that you would be unable to attend a live event. However, that does not mean that you cannot enjoy the sport. It does, however, mean that you will have to find a different way to watch it. One of those ways involves your television.

A large number of sporting groups, including Formula Drift, have made the decision to partner with a specific television network or a number of them. Formula Drift made the decision to partner with G4TV, otherwise known as G4. This popular television network airs a number of Formula D Racing events, as well as applicable programming. This means that, in addition to watching coverage of racing events, you can also go behind the scenes at a Formula D Racing event or even in the pits. Watching Formula D Racing on television may not be as great as seeing it live, in person, but it is just as good. In fact, watching Formula D Racing on television is a nice alternative for those who are unable to travel to live events.

You could also not only watch a Formula D Racing event, but learn more about the sport, by renting or buying movies. A fairly large number of videos, with a focus on Formula Drifting, have been created. These videos may include movies on the sport, coverage of past events, or instructional videos on the art of drifting. If you are unable to attend a live drifting event and you do not have access to G4TV, you will find that these videos are nice to own or even rent. To purchase or rent these videos, you are encouraged to look online or at your local video rental store.
As you can easily see, there are a number of different ways that you can go about watching programming that is centered on Formula Drifting. Whether that programming is coverage of a recent event or just information on the sport, you will likely enjoy it. If you haven’t already figured out, you soon will; Formula Drifting is an action packed sport that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

The Future Vehicle Of Today’s Roads

Buying hybrid cars can be a little bit more complicated than what you might think. The complication though, is not on the “buying hybrid car” part, but how to go about the myriad of hybrid cars to choose from. But just like in any other activities, there are some basics needed to be understood.

It is understood though that on this note, we have a basic understanding regarding the nature of hybrid cars, or hybrid electric vehicle (HEV). HEV has two energy sources for its engines: electric and combustion. On ordinary situation, like careening down the highway, this car generally runs on one or the other of the source, until the driver needs more power such as faster acceleration.

When this happened, the two engines will operate in unison. HEV cars are low emission, fuel efficient, some of the characteristics worth considering when people are considering buying hybrid cars.

In addition, hybrid cars recharge their batteries while being drive. This removes the necessity of plugging the car for electricity. This is unlike pure electric cars, which needed to be plugged in wall sockets, like an ordinary appliance unit.

There are also other considerations before the actual buying is considered.

1. Prospective buyers should have some level of understanding with terms or lingo related in buying hybrid cars. According to the California Air Resources Board, Ultra Low-Emission Vehicle is a car with 50 percent cleaner emission, compared with a new 2001 model car.

A Super Ultra Low-Emission Vehicle emits 90 % cleaner than average new 2002 model car. There are zero-emission cars however, are purely electric vehicles, not hybrid cars. But pure electric cars are, at this moment, impractical to produce.

2. Before buying hybrid cars, consumers should also consider their work areas, and home location. Hybrid cars are for urban or suburban area. Short distance trips are superb for fuel savings, when hybrid cars are using electric engines at low RPMs. According to experts, driving on a highway or interstate travel won’t see much of the expected fuel reduction.

3. The other consideration for consumer before finally buying hybrid cars is the cost. Hybrid cars, are admittedly, priced higher than gas-powered counterparts. This is due because of the low production numbers, and the considerably complex mechanical process. But these concerns are readily compensated in the long run, by fuel saving.

Buying hybrid cars at present is encouraged by the Federal State, due to the long term benefits of limiting fuel usage. There several tax deduction for new buyers of hybrid cars. Several cities are offering free parking as an additional incentive for low-emissions vehicles.

The historical road traveled by hybrid cars

There are also other beliefs behind these types of vehicles, which make buying hybrid cars for some a serious consideration.

One is the idea that hybrid car is a new phenomenon. In the earl 1900’s, American car manufacturers are producing electric, steam, and gasoline cars in equal numbers. By then, buying hybrid vehicle is as normal as buying ordinary car.

Eventually, some engineers figured out that a vehicle with multiple sources of power is possible. In 1905, a certain American engineer named H. Piper filed for the first patent for a vehicle, with engines for gas and electric.

A decade after electric self-starter made gasoline-run cars more feasible. Hybrids and other alternative were almost wiped from the market. The following years from this period was characterized cheap oil, made possible by the almost inexhaustible oil fields of the Arab world. This discouraged auto engineers to continue developing alternative cars.

The oil price hikes of 1970s, coupled with growing awareness of environmental concerns, driven engineers back to their drawing boards for new designs. Extensive and experimentation 1980s produced the hybrids in the U.S. in 2000. The earlier experience of the market on mass-produced hybrid vehicles has given engineers the encouragement to come up with complex systems, making multiple sources of power in a car possible.

In an interview by the Associated Press, Mr. Jim Press, president of Toyota Motor Sales USA, said: “I think everything will be a hybrid, eventually. It will either be a gas hybrid, a diesel hybrid, or a fuel-cell hybrid.”

From here, it is safe to declare that people buying hybrid cars, are people buying the future vehicles.

Go green and save on your lease

Hybrid vehicles’ popularity has sharply grown from a couple of thousands
in early 2000 to close to 300, 000 by the end of 2005. The trend is
rapidly catching with the auto-leasing industry with generous tax credits
and incentives on offer if you go green.

Beginning in 2006, businesses and taxpayers who lease, or purchase, an
environmentally-friendly and fuel-efficient vehicle will be eligible to
claim federal income tax credits worth thousands of dollars. Individual
states also offer generous incentives, including hybrid state tax credits,
new High-Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes access and discounted thruway tolls
for alternative-fuelled vehicles.
And that’s not all you can save from going green! You can now save on your
parking fees at a number of universities and some auto-insurance companies
are offering insurance discounts for hybrid-vehicle owners nationwide.

If you want to take advantage of these incentives and contribute to energy
conservation then visit HybridCenter.org and complete a personal profile
about your driving needs and habits. You will get in-depth advice on hybrid
models that would make economic sense to you and local, state and federal
incentives available where you live.

Combining the power of electric motors and gas engines

Hybrid vehicles operate effortlessly by combining an electricity-run motor, a gasoline engine and maximum-powered batteries. The battery gives off energy for the electric motor and recharges when it recaptures the energy that is usually lost when the car is lessening its acceleration or while it is coasting.

Regenerative breaking is the name coined for this process. If the need arises, the energy coming from the gas engine can be put into diversion to put some charging on the battery at the same instant. Because of this process of charging, hybrid cars do not need to be put in plugs.

It is best to put distinguish hybrid cars into two categories in order to understand better the functions of the batteries, the engine and the electric motor put together. There are two kinds of hybrids: the mild hybrids and the full hybrids. Each of these kinds have different approaches when combining the three components.

1. Mild hybrids

In this type of hybrid car, the electric motor is only an assistant when it comes to operating the main propulsion. It is the gas engine that gives the major energy needed.

In this setup, the motor is dependent on the gas engine for its operation. The electric motor is capable of eating up electricity from the batteries, or it can come up with energy for it, but the electric motor cannot do these functions at the same time. This technology is used for two of Honda’s hybrid models, the Insight and the Civic hybrid.

2. Full hybrids

The distinction of the full hybrid from the mild variety is that the electric motor and the gas engine can operate on its own. In most instances, the electric motor can function by itself in low speed, and once it picks up, the gasoline engine automatically takes over. Both the motor and the engine can function together if the car is in hard acceleration.

This combined effort provides the car the power that it needs for that situation. Full hybrid cars can consume and build up electricity simultaneously. The full hybrid setup can be found in models such as the popular Toyota Prius, the Mercury Mariner Hybrid, and the Escape hybrid from Ford.

As an example, one can look at the way the Toyota Prius functions. The Prius runs on a technology called the Hyrbid Synergy Drive, which involves a power split device to combine the energy of the electric motor and the gas engine. The HSD enables a effortless switching of power sources that the car driver would not notice in the slightest while driving.

Unlike the other mild hybrid types, the Prius can be operated by the electric motor alone powered by the battery pack. As a result, a motorist can drive silently for short amounts of time. The Honda hybrids on this level cannot function just by the electric motor.

While speeding up a highway, the Prius utilizes the gas engine as its main operator, and can get assistance from the generator if needed. Then this hybrid car shuts off the gas engine automatically during stops. This contributes greatly in mileage improvement and produces less emission.

Plug-in Hybrid Cars

Hybrid cars are on everyone’s minds. Twenty, forty, or fifty dollars for a full tank of gas? Who in their right might mind wants to pay that? Frustrated, the gas customers sigh. But applauded for the small amount of gas they need to operate, hybrid cars are being pulled off the lots of car dealerships each and everyday.

But what about a plug-n hybrid? Most consumers have heard that these cars are great too. Then, a person might ask him or herself, what exactly is a plug-hybrid? How do they work, and what’s the difference between a plug-in hybrid and a regular hybrid anyway?

Plug-in hybrids are able to run solely on batteries, but they use fuel also

These types of hybrid cars have some of the same characteristics of hybrid vehicles. They are also are very similar to electric vehicles. Plug-in hybrid cars must be recharged externally by connecting a plug to a power source. The combustion engine in plug-in hybrid vehicles is used only as a back up. These cars can run only on batteries if desired. However, it is expected that these types of hybrid cars be plugged in daily.

Hybrid cars travel just as many miles as a conventional car

Designed to go the extra mile where gas-mileage is concerned, hybrids can be driven on the highway, in cities, or wherever else a person needs to drive. On the other hand, plug-in hybrids are designed to handle commuter-type distances, meaning about twenty to sixty miles between destinations. This way, the plug-in hybrid does not have to use its back up combustion engine, but plug-in hybrids can go further using gas.

Hybrids help to minimize pollution, but they still pollute the air

When compared to plug-in hybrids, hybrid cars have a long ways to go where pollution is concerned. Since plug-in hybrid cars can run solely on their battery power, they don’t have to emit fuel. That means that plug-in hybrids don’t have to pollute the air.

Plug-in hybrids fight against greenhouse gases

Plug-in hybrids use virtually no imported oil. Board studies have shown that electric hybrids emit at least 67% lower greenhouse gases when compared to gasoline cars. Since the products used to power plug-in hybrids are renewable, the difference in greenhouse gases may be even greater than the study determined.

And there you have it. That’s the difference between plug-in hybrids and regular hybrid cars. It makes a big difference, but you would be surprised how little that matters at the current moment. And that’s only because plug-hybrids are not being sold to consumers at this time. But this list should get you excited about the wonderful plug-in hybrid car, coming soon to a dealer ship near you.

And it’s going to be a great debut. People already really like regular hybrid cars, but they haven’t seen anything until they see plug-in hybrid cars. But for now, maybe they should just be satisfied with what they have. Because who knows? Before plug-in hybrid cars come out, something even better might be introduced on the market.

What Can You Do at Car Shows?

Have you ever wondered exactly what you can do with your car while you are at a car show? Aside from the obvious of staging your car perfectly there are some things that you can do to help pass the time, or even help share your love of cars with the different people who are there. From simple things to those that are more elaborate if you talk to the coordinators of the show you can usually have a lot of fun and do more than stand beside your car talking to the occasional visitor.

There are many car shows that would love to have someone doing detail cleaning, or a bit of light bodywork, or even some minor engine work to show visitors what goes into the car. If you are skilled in any of these areas, you could volunteer to demonstrate these skills and help teach the visitors a few things. This is something that you can that is very inexpensive, allows you to continue working on your car that weekend and still enables you to share your love of the vehicles.

Other things that you think about doing is bring along a television and VCR and perhaps show a video of you doing some work to the vehicle that you brought. This would enable people to see how far the vehicle has come and what type of work was put into it in order to get it ready to go to the car show. Realize that most people have no clue what it really involves to get a car ready for the show. They generally think that all you do is roll out of bed the day of the show and decide to go.

You could also consider having plenty of pictures and a small table that you set up to depict the work process. This would be a great way to also allow people to see the process and without the hassles of needing an inverter or electricity for the television. You would be surprised how much small details like this can really encourage people to spend time by your car.

Additionally, if you are willing to talk about the history of your car and how you have worked on it this is another great way to share experiences. Not all people at car shows are willing to talk about the work they have done on their car, if you choose to share you are in the minority. What their reasons are tends to vary, but for the most part there are few who will openly discuss their work. Feel free to talk about it and share your experiences. You may help inspire someone to start getting involved with their own vehicle.

You should be very careful though and always discuss your plans with the car show coordinators to ensure that there will be no safety concerns. Additionally, some car shows do not allow demonstrations because they feel that they are distracting or pose large liability risks. As long as you have received the okay from the event coordinators feel free to have some fun sharing your love of cars and showing off your skills as well as your gorgeous car. Just always ensure that you are making sure everyone is safe first, so leave the welder and other dangerous equipment at home.
